The story
The Three Sisters are three peaks near Canmore, Alberta, called Big Sister, Middle Sister and Little Sister, or Faith, Charity and Hope.
The collage combines Tom Thomson's The Pointers, painted in the winter of 1916–17 and now at Hart House, University of Toronto, with Edgar Degas's dancers and advertisements from The Dominion Illustrated of 1889. The two artists died in the same year: Thomson in July 1917, Degas on 27 September.
